CSA B149.3
Gas fired appliances are expected to comply with the CSA safety standard ensuring the safe operation of gas/propane fired equipment
As of January 1, 2015, industries in Alberta using gas fired appliances in their operations must comply with the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) safety standard, CSA B149.3.
Aimed at ensuring the safe operation of gas/propane fired equipment, operating companies must provide an inventory of all gas-fired equipment for which no standard existed at the time of installation and are required to create an internal program to design, install and monitor all upgrades and ensure compliance.
To pass field inspection, each component on the combustion system must be CSA certified and installed in accordance with the code. This includes equipment such as: valves, regulators, switches, transmitters, solenoids, igniters, burners, flame scanners, and burner management systems (BMS) logic solver panels.
