Feb 10, 2025, Calgary, Alberta – Spartan Controls, a leader in industrial automation solutions, is proud to announce a 15-year partnership with Northwestern Polytechnic (NWP) as the exclusive naming sponsor for the institution’s new $16 million, full-service training and education space. The facility, set to open in summer 2025, will be named the Spartan Controls Northwestern Centre for Industrial Automation & Innovation.
The new facility will feature advanced technology and provide hands-on training with customized process equipment integration, including boilers, steam turbines, water treatment packages, and more. This immersive learning environment will support the Instrumentation and Control Technician Apprenticeship Program and 3rd Class Power Engineering, equipping students with the skills and experience necessary to excel in Alberta’s key industries.

This partnership builds on Spartan’s ongoing collaboration with NWP, which began in 2022 with a focus on place-based training and industry collaboration. Since then, Spartan has welcomed NWP apprenticeship students to its own facilities to gain experience with the latest tools and technologies
