The Challenge
In a typical operation, the majority of process control loops under-perform. Industry statistics show that in most operations the ratio of control loops to engineers/technicians maintaining them is greater than 300 to 1. The result is under-performing control assets do the opposite of what they are designed to do, which is minimize the variability in plant processes. These challenges lead to poor process control performance and result in production issues such as: unstable plant operations, lower than desired throughput, and product quality issues.
