Western Canada is fortunate to be home of the great Canadian Rockies. Known for its breath-taking views, wildlife, and recreation, the Rocky Mountains are also a driving force of industry and sustainable life, supplying drinking water to a third of Canada’s population, and the source to developing these lands of rich natural resources.
In British Columbia, converging headwaters are used for energy creation with hydroelectric power. In the oil and gas sector, these water feedstocks are used throughout extraction, and in the prairies of southern Alberta and Saskatchewan, massive irrigation networks continue to be developed to serve an essential agriculture industry for our country. As important as water is to these industries, it’s equally important that the resource is properly re-used, treated, and respected as a cornerstone ingredient for life.
