Our service business is segmented to provide dedicated, specialized service capabilities focused on a core deliverable. We offer unrivaled valve expertise through our highly qualified asset managers, experienced outage management team, Fisher's Instrument & Valve Services team and our repair subsidiaries, Farris Pressure Management and Sterling Valve Automation. Emerson I&VS

Fisher valve, actuator and instrumentation repairs are handled directly by Emerson’s Instrument & Valve Services (Emerson I&VS) in partnership with Spartan Controls. Emerson's I&VS repair shop totals 68,000 ft2 of space in south Edmonton, AB.  We also operate a satellite shop on the premises of the Burnaby Spartan office to take care of our west coast customers.

There are 48 repair technicians, with resources brought in as required from the North American I&VS network consisting of 330 skilled technicians and machinists to meet customer demands and schedules. Emerson I&VS is the only factory-authorized Fisher OEM repair facility in Western Canada. Emerson I&VS has the size and capability to ensure a smooth plant shutdown at your facility. In fact, Emerson I&VS can also provide repair services on Rosemount pressure and temperature transmitters and Emerson 375 & 475 Hart communicators. The facility also has the ability to install or repair 1199 remote seals on various models of Rosemount pressure transmitters to ensure your facility's conformance to Secondary Seal regulations.

Sterling Valve Automation

Sterling Valve Automation, a division of Spartan Controls, is the authorized repair facility for all Emerson Valve Automation actuator products including EIM, Bettis, El-O-Matic and others. Sterling has the expertise and facilities to handle all your actuated valve assembly repair needs including reassembly of the actuation components and function testing of the complete assembly. Sterling is pleased to offer services to facilitate the entire repair of any Emerson actuated valve assembly. We have 10,000 ft2 of working shop space - not including laydown and inventory space - for repair of valve actuation and testing. We have a dedicated team of 15 factory-trained depot and field technicians to perform actuator repairs.

Sterling can also draw on additional resources to meeting the demanding timelines of shutdowns. Sterling maintains business relationships with a variety of OEM repair facilities, manufacturers and third-party machine shops to perform repairs on a myriad of valves used in on/off applications. Sterling can assist with your repair and turnaround needs on both small jobs and large. Sterling has handled a job consisting of 100 valves while continuing to support smaller jobs at the same time.

Farris Pressure Management

Farris Pressure Management, a division of Spartan Controls, is the authorized repair facility for all Farris relief valves and is also ASME certified for the repair and testing of most other third party relief valves. Farris has an 8000 ft2 repair facility with additional available space for laydown and storage, which ensures adequate space to house your turnaround jobs, large or small. Farris employs 12 highly trained technicians for relief valve repairs, and can draw on other resources as required to meet customer demand and schedules. With our large facility and trained technicians, Farris can handle all your relief valve repair and testing needs. Farris has managed a single shutdown of 250 relief valves while continuing to support smaller relief valve jobs at the same time.

Measurement Instrumentation Service

Our Measurement Instrumentation (MI) service team services and supports our electronic measurement products such as: Micro Motion, Rosemount, Drexelbrook, Phase Dynamics and others. Our MI business is very unique in that we specialize in bundling multiple products to provide customers with measurement solutions to solve specific field challenges such as truck load/unload metering, oil/gas well testing, analyzers and other measurement requirements. Often these measurement solutions are required to optimize profits or to comply with ERCB Directive 017 and others.

Our MI service team is comprised of 11 factory-trained technicians ready to assist with all of your measurement startup and commissioning requirements. This includes commissioning new systems, regular maintenance contracts and day-to-day service requests and repairs. The majority of our service is provided in the field. This enables our technicians to observe the equipment while installed in your facility and to understand any process-related challenges that may be occurring..

Embedded Services

Spartan Controls offers embedded services through our Instrument Asset Specialists (IAS) and Systems Asset Specialists (SAS) programs. Our IAS and SAS groups are deployed on long-term contracts to help you with reliability-based programs and indepth outage management services. IAS resources reside in your plant for the express purpose of evaluating and advising on process equipment performance and valve and instrument health. SAS resources provide control systems support for day-to-day configuration and maintenance activities along with longer term lifecycle support activities. Benefits for customers who have used these services include increased availability and reliability, and lower cost of ownership of their plant assets.

Turnaround Specialists

Plant turnarounds take specialized knowledge and organization to be successful. If you are in need of assistance in planning and scoping the valve repairs and instrumentation service required for your next shutdown but don’t have the budget or requirement for an embedded resource, we can offer you assistance through our turnaround specialists.

Spartan’s turnaround specialists have several years experience with all of our products and are available to assist you in all facets of planning your next shutdown. Asset data audits and reconciliation of product supplied by Spartan can be performed by our specialists. Our specialists can assist with determining the best course of action. Whether it is repairing, replacing or onsite diagnostics, our turnaround specialists can best determine what issues may exist with all of your Spartan supplied instrumentation and develop a plan to successfully repair the assets during your turnaround.

Mobile Repair Facilities

Spartan Controls is pleased to offer a new mobile repair trailer in time for the 2012 Spring shutdown season. The 50-foot custom-built trailer is primarily equipped to handle repair of relief valve up to 8" in size, however it is tooled for all types of instrumentation repairs in the field.

Education

Spartan Controls offers training on all of our supplied products. Full-time dedicated instructors and four full-time classrooms in our Edmonton facility provide the ideal setting to have your instrumentation specialists trained on all of our products. Additional Information about Spartan Returns

Prior to returning any item to Spartan Controls, please contact a service advisor for a return authorization tracking number and instructions for returning your items for repair. Spartan handles hundreds of shipments and receipts per day and we want to ensure your item is received and processed as efficiently as possible. To ensure this happens, we ask for your help by obtaining a return authorization number and visibly labeling your package and shipping documents with it. Thank you for helping us to serve you better.

Items being returned for repair require cleaning, as well as MSDS sheets for the process fluid to which your item has been exposed. Uncleaned items will be quarantined in our outdoor laydown area awaiting proper documentation from you, delaying your repair.

We must keep our employees safe, so if you do not have the ability to clean your items please contact us for a list of vendors able to provide this service. Spartan Controls does not have cleaning facilities onsite.
